Still Smilin'!

Hey there! It's Dan...nothing really new to report, but we took a really cute picture of Kalia yesterday and I wanted to get it on the site. We're at the start of Labor Day Weekend - Kalia is going to meet her Uncle Joe, Aunt Dawn and cousins Justin and Austin on Sunday. Other than that, we're going to relax a little, get some stuff done around the house and enjoy the last three-day weekend of Summer! Hope everyone is doing well...

Kalia is 9 Weeks Old!

So I went back to work on Tuesday to set up my classroom and get it ready for the sub who will be teaching my students from September 8 through December. Unfortunately they don't have a sub yet for me....the two I interviewed got hired!! So we are back to square one! In addition, my sister has been taking care of Kalia while Dan and I are at work. In January when I go back to work, she is going to be an awesome Auntie and take care of Kalia full time. Kalia has been doing well the last couple of days with my sister, and besides my sister is so patient with her, and Kalia just loves her. Right now things are so crazy with being a full time mom and working full time-I am just trying to get use to this new chapter in my life.

We are dealing with some sick issues Kalia is having.....still blood in her stool and now she has a cheek rash, so on Friday we are going to check out her new pediatrician who is just 2 minutes down the road....literally to find out what is going on with her.

Other then that, things are well....I can't complain! Kalia slept from 9:00pm until 6:50am this morning with no wake-ups in between. As for a picture, I don't have a picture right now because as we speak Dan and Kalia are taking a nap on the couch and I don't want to wake her...so stay tuned for her 9 week picture!

8 Week Pictures!!!

Well as I am writing about how Kalia was at 8 weeks, she is actually 9 weeks...however, I will write about that next. Last week...when Kalia was 8 weeks, or 2 months, however you would like to refer to it....it was crazy around her. Kalia was giggling most of the day, taking just little naps, and doing well. However, at night time the "terrible two-month two's" hit-she cries at the top of her lungs and gets herself going so much that she starts to cough and gag....I wonder where she got that temperament from?? We went to the grocery store for the first time, just Kalia and I. We made it, but boy was it an adventure!! We also went and saw great-grandma Radcliffe with my two nephews, Decker and Judd, as well as my sister. Afterwards we went to a consignment store and picked her up a portable aquarium swing for when we are on the go. We also visited the school I work at for the second time and said hello to everyone there.

As far as gains she has made, she holds up her head during tummy time, and when I put her on her side to look at toys, she rolls over! She learned how to hold a rattle on her own and likes to bat at the toys that hang from her car seat. She takes a bottle more frequently now and unfortunately has taken a liking to formula....however, still is breastfeeding too! She is now getting use to the car and falls asleep in it, however, she doesn't like to sit in her car seat too long if it is clipped in her stroller.....so we are on a hunt for a new stroller...any suggestions? Other then that things are good!
Kalia taking a nap with her daddy! She finally went to sleep after "crying a storm."

Kalia getting ready to go to church in her lemon outfit...she has lemons on her shirt, pants, socks, and the shoes are also from the same line!! I love the fruit lines from Gymboree!Kalia holding a rattle...I think she was trying to figure out how to get it out of her hands, now that she can finally hold it.Kalia taking a nap with her favorite bumpy blanket...a very good friend of mine had it made, it is called a Gigi Blanket.

Kalia is 7 Weeks Old!

Okay...so she was 7 weeks old about a week and a half ago...but I just haven't had time to post! I did take pictures though! At 7 weeks Kalia was smiling up a storm and trying to laugh. She slept through the night, meaning she goes down for bed at about 9pm and wakes up somewhere between 5 and 6am, then goes back to sleep to wake up somewhere between 8 and 9am. She slept more during the day...I think she was going through a growing spurt!

Her newborn clothes are getting too small and she seems to be now in a definite 3 month size! She loves her daddy a lot, probably because she is so tired of looking at me all day! She is definitely "daddy's little princess." Dan won't admit this, but I see it...she loves to laugh at him when he makes silly faces and talks to her!

She has been hanging out with Auntie Jennifer a lot! On the Saturday following her 7 week mark, it was 90 degrees out so Dan's sister came over and hung out with us for the day, Kalia made her first visit to the Driving Range to watch her daddy and Auntie hit some golf balls, then she went to her first restaurant, Shaun O'Donnell's. She did very well, except Dan and I had to take turns eating - oh the joys of parenting. Kalia has also been spending lots of time with her cousins Decker and Judd and her Auntie April. She loves all the action that goes around at my sisters house, which is a good thing since that is where she will be when I go back to work! At 7 weeks, Kalia has grown so much!

I do have to add...check out her very cute strawberry outfit from the Shepherd's...I don't think she has enough hair for the head band! What you can't see is her matching strawberry collared shirt and strawberry socks (my mom found the socks at a Gymboree outlet)!

Kalia in her beautiful strawberry outfit! She is so pretty!

Kaila is all SMILES!!

Today while I was sitting next to Kalia in her bouncer, eating lunch, I noticed she started smiling up a storm. I couldn't figure out what she was smiling about...but it was cute! I think it was the fishy bouncer she was in...what you can't see is that there is a starfish turning circles and two fish kissing each other. By the way, she was also wearing a new present from her Auntie Jennifer...a heart onesie shirt.

In the video just ignore my high pitched baby talking voice!! I know I sound awful.

Kalia's 5 and 6 Weeks Old!!

Things have been a little busy the past couple of weeks. First and foremost, Kalia has been eating everything 3 hours during the day, therefore at night she is sleeping 6-8hours her first stretch of the night. Then she wakes up and eats for about 10-20 minutes then she goes back down to sleep for another 3 hours. So every morning we are up to start our day anywhere between 7 and 8am. So we can't complain we aren't getting any sleep! In addition, Kalia has been making some great advances...the first day we started tummy time, July 28th, I put her on her stomach and she held her head straight up! She loves to be on her tummy! Check out the pictures below!

The day after her great tummy time, my mom was over and Kalia started getting fussy. My mom suggested giving her a pacifier. She won't take her green newborn pacifier, so I decided to try some of the other 5,000 pacifiers she has. Sure enough she took the first one I gave her.

Here is a picture of my mom holding Kalia right after we gave her the pacifier.
She looks so happy with her pacifier.

So the original pacifier we gave her closes automatically when it falls out of her mouth...however, somehow it kept closing on her mouth, so we had to change to another kind. She now likes the MAM ones BUT...they have to be the silicone silk ones...she won't take the regular ones. She is so picky.
On Monday, August 4th I was changing Kalia's diapers in the morning and noticed blood in her stool. We called the pediatrician and they wanted to see her. Turns out she had a fissure...essentially a cut in her behind where she goes to the bathroom...OUCH! So the doctor gave strict instructions, no more diaper creams right now, just straight 20% ONLY zinc oxide. OK, I didn't know I was going to be on the run around. Anyway, while I was gone, Dan took a picture of Kalia smiling, something she has been doing a lot lately! Notice she has a Daddy's little girl bib...maybe because she loves her daddy sooooo much!
On Wednesday, August 6th my friend from school/work brought her son over, Luke. He is 4 years old and will have a little brother in December. He really wanted to hold Kalia and thought she was really cute. So we let him hold her. He is going to be such a great big brother. She was so good for him...until 7pm when we went over to my sister's for our nephew Judd's birthday. She was fine for a while, then at about 7:30pm she had to eat..and then became very cranky because it was close to her bed time. So after a lot of crying, missing out on a lot of Judd's birthday, we decided we better take her home. For 15 minutes she cried and cried! Finally we got home, she heard her sleepy music and was out!
