So I went back to work on Tuesday to set up my classroom and get it ready for the sub who will be teaching my students from September 8 through December. Unfortunately they don't have a sub yet for me....the two I interviewed got hired!! So we are back to square one! In addition, my sister has been taking care of Kalia while Dan and I are at work. In January when I go back to work, she is going to be an awesome Auntie and take care of Kalia full time. Kalia has been doing well the last couple of days with my sister, and besides my sister is so patient with her, and Kalia just loves her. Right now things are so crazy with being a full time mom and working full time-I am just trying to get use to this new chapter in my life.
We are dealing with some sick issues Kalia is having.....still blood in her stool and now she has a cheek rash, so on Friday we are going to check out her new pediatrician who is just 2 minutes down the road....literally to find out what is going on with her.
Other then that, things are well....I can't complain! Kalia slept from 9:00pm until 6:50am this morning with no wake-ups in between. As for a picture, I don't have a picture right now because as we speak Dan and Kalia are taking a nap on the couch and I don't want to wake her...so stay tuned for her 9 week picture!

8 Week Pictures!!!
Well as I am writing about how Kalia was at 8 weeks, she is actually 9 weeks...however, I will write about that next. Last week...when Kalia was 8 weeks, or 2 months, however you would like to refer to it....it was crazy around her. Kalia was giggling most of the day, taking just little naps, and doing well. However, at night time the "terrible two-month two's" hit-she cries at the top of her lungs and gets herself going so much that she starts to cough and gag....I wonder where she got that temperament from?? We went to the grocery store for the first time, just Kalia and I. We made it, but boy was it an adventure!! We also went and saw great-grandma Radcliffe with my two nephews, Decker and Judd, as well as my sister. Afterwards we went to a consignment store and picked her up a portable aquarium swing for when we are on the go. We also visited the school I work at for the second time and said hello to everyone there.
As far as gains she has made, she holds up her head during tummy time, and when I put her on her side to look at toys, she rolls over! She learned how to hold a rattle on her own and likes to bat at the toys that hang from her car seat. She takes a bottle more frequently now and unfortunately has taken a liking to formula....however, still is breastfeeding too! She is now getting use to the car and falls asleep in it, however, she doesn't like to sit in her car seat too long if it is clipped in her stroller.....so we are on a hunt for a new stroller...any suggestions? Other then that things are good!

Kalia is 7 Weeks Old!
Okay...so she was 7 weeks old about a week and a half ago...but I just haven't had time to post! I did take pictures though! At 7 weeks Kalia was smiling up a storm and trying to laugh. She slept through the night, meaning she goes down for bed at about 9pm and wakes up somewhere between 5 and 6am, then goes back to sleep to wake up somewhere between 8 and 9am. She slept more during the day...I think she was going through a growing spurt!
Her newborn clothes are getting too small and she seems to be now in a definite 3 month size! She loves her daddy a lot, probably because she is so tired of looking at me all day! She is definitely "daddy's little princess." Dan won't admit this, but I see it...she loves to laugh at him when he makes silly faces and talks to her!
She has been hanging out with Auntie Jennifer a lot! On the Saturday following her 7 week mark, it was 90 degrees out so Dan's sister came over and hung out with us for the day, Kalia made her first visit to the Driving Range to watch her daddy and Auntie hit some golf balls, then she went to her first restaurant, Shaun O'Donnell's. She did very well, except Dan and I had to take turns eating - oh the joys of parenting. Kalia has also been spending lots of time with her cousins Decker and Judd and her Auntie April. She loves all the action that goes around at my sisters house, which is a good thing since that is where she will be when I go back to work! At 7 weeks, Kalia has grown so much!
I do have to add...check out her very cute strawberry outfit from the Shepherd's...I don't think she has enough hair for the head band! What you can't see is her matching strawberry collared shirt and strawberry socks (my mom found the socks at a Gymboree outlet)!

Kalia in her beautiful strawberry outfit! She is so pretty!

Kaila is all SMILES!!
Today while I was sitting next to Kalia in her bouncer, eating lunch, I noticed she started smiling up a storm. I couldn't figure out what she was smiling about...but it was cute! I think it was the fishy bouncer she was in...what you can't see is that there is a starfish turning circles and two fish kissing each other. By the way, she was also wearing a new present from her Auntie Jennifer...a heart onesie shirt.
In the video just ignore my high pitched baby talking voice!! I know I sound awful.
Kalia's 5 and 6 Weeks Old!!
Things have been a little busy the past couple of weeks. First and foremost, Kalia has been eating everything 3 hours during the day, therefore at night she is sleeping 6-8hours her first stretch of the night. Then she wakes up and eats for about 10-20 minutes then she goes back down to sleep for another 3 hours. So every morning we are up to start our day anywhere between 7 and 8am. So we can't complain we aren't getting any sleep! In addition, Kalia has been making some great advances...the first day we started tummy time, July 28th, I put her on her stomach and she held her head straight up! She loves to be on her tummy! Check out the pictures below!

The day after her great tummy time, my mom was over and Kalia started getting fussy. My mom suggested giving her a pacifier. She won't take her green newborn pacifier, so I decided to try some of the other 5,000 pacifiers she has. Sure enough she took the first one I gave her.
Here is a picture of my mom holding Kalia right after we gave her the pacifier.
She looks so happy with her pacifier.
So the original pacifier we gave her closes automatically when it falls out of her mouth...however, somehow it kept closing on her mouth, so we had to change to another kind. She now likes the MAM ones BUT...they have to be the silicone silk ones...she won't take the regular ones. She is so picky.
On Monday, August 4th I was changing Kalia's diapers in the morning and noticed blood in her stool. We called the pediatrician and they wanted to see her. Turns out she had a fissure...essentially a cut in her behind where she goes to the bathroom...OUCH! So the doctor gave strict instructions, no more diaper creams right now, just straight 20% ONLY zinc oxide. OK, I didn't know I was going to be on the run around. Anyway, while I was gone, Dan took a picture of Kalia smiling, something she has been doing a lot lately! Notice she has a Daddy's little girl bib...maybe because she loves her daddy sooooo much!
On Wednesday, August 6th my friend from school/work brought her son over, Luke. He is 4 years old and will have a little brother in December. He really wanted to hold Kalia and thought she was really cute. So we let him hold her. He is going to be such a great big brother. She was so good for him...until 7pm when we went over to my sister's for our nephew Judd's birthday. She was fine for a while, then at about 7:30pm she had to eat..and then became very cranky because it was close to her bed time. So after a lot of crying, missing out on a lot of Judd's birthday, we decided we better take her home. For 15 minutes she cried and cried! Finally we got home, she heard her sleepy music and was out!

Dinner out!
On Saturday night, we met up with our Friends from Vegas...Renee and her two kids, Carter and Camden and her cousin Shanda for dinner. Renee's husband had to stay home and work...Jeff we missed you! We had such a good time seeing the kids, and Renee finally got to see Kalia!
Cuttie little Camden! This is the first time we have gotten to see Camden since he was born!
Dan feeding Kalia! Today we finally found a bottle she liked! We were so excited! Dan finally can help out with feeding!
Camden staring down Kalia! He was so interested in her!
Group picture!

Renee gets to hold Kalia...finally!
First we got a picture of Carter without his gelato...as you can see though, he was just staring at the dish...must have been the cool spoons! Carter was so shy around me...the only way I could get a picture was to promise him I would put it on the computer for his Daddy!
I just thought Carter looked so cute eating gelato! He took it so seriously-maybe because it was so good! He did share it with his mom and brother though! He is such a good boy!

Beautiful Song!
One of my old student's parent sent me this song by Martina McBride! It is so pretty and the song is true..Kalia is our gift sent from above!
IN MY DAUGHTER’S EYES by Martina McBride
In my daughter’s eyes
I am a hero
I am strong and wise
and I know no fear
but the truth is plain to see
she was sent to rescue me
I see who I wanna be
In my daughter’s eyes
In my daughter’s eyes
everyone is equal
darkness turns to light and the world is at peace
this miracle god gave to me
gives me strength when I am weak
I find reason to believe
In my daughter’s eyes
And When she wraps her hand around my finger
how it puts a smile in my heart
everything becomes a little clearer
I realize what life is all about
IT’S hanging on when your heart has had enough
IT’S giving more when you feel like giving up
i’ve seen the light
It's In my daughter’s eyes
In my daughter’s eyes
I can see the future
a reflection of who I am and what will be
and though she’ll grow and someday leave
maybe raise a family
when I’m gone i hope you see
How happy she made me FOR
i’ll be there
In my daughters eyes

A Day at Grandma and Grandpa Radcliffe's Pool

Kalia and I get bored sitting at home all day. Everyday we do the same thing...up by 7am, watch Good Morning America, Regis and Kelly, and finally The View. Sometime during The View we watch TLC's A Baby Story or Jon and Kate Plus 8. We then eat breakfast, and at about 11am we do something, either chores or we go out somewhere. So on Thursday, we went to Grandma and Grandpa's pool to visit. THere we saw cousin Decker and Makila, Great Auntie Robin, Auntie April, and of course Grandma and Grandpa. Although Kalia and I haven't gotten our clearances to swim yet, we just hung out by the pool. Did you see Kalia's new sunglasses! We had her wear them because she hates the sun in her eyes!
Happy 1 Month Birthday Kalia!!
Okay-so I realize we are a few days late posting Kalia's 1 month pictures, however, since Dan has gone back to work, the Blog is up to me again! I took some pictures the day Kalia turned 1 month with our brand new camera that finally came the night before. Kalia has gotten a lot bigger. She now lets us sleep longer then 3 hour spurts every night and she is growing out of her clothes...in fact, she is has grown so much in length, she didn't get to wear all of her new clothes because they don't fit! She loves to watch and look at Dan and I when we talk to her...and absolutely LOVES her new aquarium swing (thanks for the positive feedback Renee)! She loves to listen to the music, watch the lights, and watch the fish go around and around! She is growing up to be such a big girl...we think she has even smiled when it wasn't gas! She is very strong and even holds up her head at times! Every day we have grown to love the little things about her even more. Including those times she constantly spits up and lets out a little toot! Check out some pictures that were taken of her!

Three Weeks!

Happy Three Week Birthday Kalia!
We were able to take some still pictures from our video camera, so there you go! We got some good shots while she was awake...and one with Jaggy in the background sleeping. As you can see, the kitties don't seem to be bothered by her, which is awesome! So, here is a recap of the last week:
On Saturday, Grandma Jane came over and helped us give Kalia a bath. K seemed to enjoy it and had a great time - we feel more comfortable doing it by ourselves now. Thanks Grandma Jane!
After she left, we went out on our first grocery shopping trip up to Fred Meyers. Guess what? That's right! She slept the entire time :)
On Sunday, Michelle got Kalia ready for church and drove her there all by herself. I had to be there at 8:00am, so rather than go to rehearsal with me, the girls slept in and came by themselves. Great job Mommy on getting there on time and in one piece! Sunday afternoon, Melissa and Chris came over and we went to the Mill Creek Festival - of course, Kalia slept the entire time...surrounded by noise...in the 85-degree heat. Not sure how she does it.
We ate dinner at Palino's - but before Michelle could eat, Kalia decided to get hungry, so Michelle took her into the Women's room and changed her (K decided to poop and pee AGAIN...WHILE Michelle was changing her...). After that, Michelle brought her back outside and fed her on the the sidewalk right in the middle of the Mill Creek Towncenter. It was awesome :) Sorry, no pictures of it...even if we had a camera...
On Monday, while I was at my Church Board meeting and softball game, Auntie Jennifer came over and helped Michelle by watching Kalia for a few hours. Of course, she slept most of the time :) - thanks Auntie Jen for taking time out of our day to help out!
Tuesday - Michelle had a Dr's appointment in the morning, so we all went there. Then went to the mall for a couple minutes. Ashley Strickler came over in the afternoon to watch over Kalia and play with her for a few hours. Ashley is an awesome babysitter as well and is hired :) - thanks to you too, Ashley, for taking time out of your day off during the week to help out - you're an angel!
And then there's today! At 12:58pm, Kalia will be 3-weeks old! Time is flying by and she's growing a little more every day. She's more awake during the day and is sleeping really well at night. Only concerns at the moment are that she's spitting up a little more than what we think is normal, so we're going to keep an eye on it and make sure she's digesting okay. Making sure we're feeding her right and burping her on time is key, so we're working hard to make sure we're doing everything we can to help. We're getting pretty good sleep most nights...we usually get a good 2-3 hour sleep from 10pm - 1pm, then up for an hour, then usually a little less than two hours at a time until morning. We're very happy with that :) A couple of nights ago, she slept from 10pm - 3am which was SWEET.
We're also having a good time trying to play the game of: "When We Bring You Into the Room to Change You, Let's See How Quick We Can Finish Before You Poop and Pee All Over Mommy and Daddy". She seems to enjoy the sensation of the baby wipes on her bottom...so when we get to that point, her bowels seem to wake up :)
On Sunday, right as Michelle was getting her new diaper on, Kalia decided to pass gas and out shot a stream of both poo (gross) and pee...right on Michelle! It was awesome. Chris and Melissa were there to witness it. Again, sorry, no pictures. We went through 4 diapers in about 3 minutes. It's a fun game though...she wins most of the time, but when I win...I celebrate by running around the room cheering. By the time I get back to her to rub it in her face...she usually has already soiled her diapers again so we start the game all over. I'll take small victories though...
That's about it! As usual...we'll keep everyone posted.
- Dan, Michelle and our little Angel
